Digital Media Presence

Today I am reflecting on my Facebook presence as a photojournalist. I hate it. I join various photo groups and most of them turn up idiots who can not follow the news and stay-at-home moms with nothing better to do than pester other photogs.  I will keep trying though.  I have become a contributor to Getty Images and I need to follow up on that a little more.  That makes me happy for sure.  There are a couple of new groups I have asked to join and we’ll just see how that works out.  I also began using Instagram.  That’s actually pretty interesting and fun.  I guess my biggest wonder about all this digital jazz is, how worthwhile is it?

In the past, I have toyed with the thought of going back to school to learn how to utilize this crazy internet.  There was an ad on FB for getting an MA in Digital Media at Concordia College, NY.  Does anyone know anything about these folks?  I’m in the middle of a chat session right now with an “Enrollment Specialist”.  Waiting for them to ask me to sign up with my credit card…  Ha! They said they were at the Portland, OR campus and the only way for me to communicate with the NY campus is either by phone or email.  I don’t want to talk on the phone and I already tried an email and that got bounced back.  So far, not very impressive…

If anyone has any thoughts regarding learning more about utilizing the digital maze I’d love to hear from you.
